The following announcement was made by Archbishop Peter A Comensoli on 29 October 2024.

After nearly 29 years as Catholic Mission’s Director in VIC/TAS (since May 1996), Mr Kevin Meese has indicated that he will be retiring at the end of 2024.

Kevin has done an outstanding job in inspiring, nurturing and supporting Catholic Mission’s donors; and furthering the healthcare, education and spiritual care projects of Catholic Mission throughout the Australian, Asia Pacific, Mongolian, African and European regions.

On behalf of the Bishops of Victoria and Tasmania, I wish firstly to take this opportunity in offering our deep gratitude to Kevin for his years of dedication and commitment, and for the strength of his Christian witness to those most in need.

These are big shoes to fill, but I am pleased to announce and welcome Mr Cruz Ignatius as the new Catholic Mission Director for the region. Cruz comes to the role with extensive experience leading marketing and communications initiatives, managing strategic partnerships across diverse sectors, and driving impactful outcomes within both the for-profit and non-profit spheres.

Having recently worked as the Marketing and Communications Manager with the Diocese of Darwin, Cruz comes to Catholic Mission with a commitment to implementing culturally sensitive and faith-driven initiatives. We are very grateful to the Most Reverend Bishop Charles Gauci of the Diocese of Darwin for allowing Cruz to continue his good work with Catholic Mission.

Cruz expects to travel around the regions in the new year to meet with you and support you. I ask that you please welcome him as the new Catholic Mission Director for the regions of Victoria and Tasmania, and keep Cruz and the works of Catholic Mission in your prayers.

With every grace and blessing,
Yours sincerely in Christ Jesus,

Most Rev Peter A Comensoli
Archbishop of Melbourne
