The Association of Ministerial Public Juridic Persons (AMPJP) has announced that Moira Najdecki will succeed Eva Skira AM as the Chair of the AMPJP.

Established in 2016, the AMPJP—one of three Australian Catholic Church peak bodies, along with the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC) and Catholic Religious Australia (CRA)—represents a range of ministries that function under Canon Law in the name of the Catholic Church. The ministries represented by the AMPJP operate in areas such as health, education and aged care.

Eva Skira AM had advised that she will step down from her role as Chair of AMPJP and as Member Representative of St John of God Australia Ltd following the Annual General Meeting of the Association.

The AMPJP Council has elected Moira Najdecki to the role of AMPJP Council Chair, effective 1 September 2022. Najdecki is the Good Samaritan Education Member Representative to AMPJP and was AMPJP’s Deputy Chair from 2019 to 2022.

During Skira’s time as Chair, a new Member (Mercy Ministry Companions) and two new Associates (Loreto Ministries Ltd and Marist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat Ltd) have been included in the AMPJP, and partnership agreements with both the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and Catholic Religious Australia were initiated and finalised. The AMPJP has also participated in the Fifth Plenary Council of the Catholic Church in Australia, and along with the ACBC and CRA, it was a foundation member of Australian Catholic Safeguarding Ltd.

During this time, the AMPJP has also overseen a number of significant projects, including producing the AMPJP Strategic Direction plan 2020–2023; establishing the Committee of Religious Institute and Ministerial PJP School Authorities Australia (CORMSAA); establishing the AMPJP Canonical Stewards Formation Committee; developing the AMPJP Formation Framework, and increasing the number and diversity of formation activities for AMPJP Stewards; and commissioning an independent review of the first five years of the Association, which sought feedback from internal and external stakeholder on future priorities.

Moira Najdecki paid tribute to the outgoing Council Chair, saying ‘Eva has made a tremendous contribution to AMPJP both in her three years as Council Chair and in her previous five years as the St John of God Australia Ltd Representative during the formation of the Association. Eva brought a passionate commitment to relationship building and strategic action.’

Skira said that it had ‘been a privilege to lead the Council during a time when the AMPJP has reached a maturity in focus and function. I see the Association as a blessing for Ministerial PJPs and for the wider Church.’
