About the Role

Reporting to the Payroll Operations Manager and based in East Melbourne, the Payroll Support Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of payroll and administrative functions across the Archdiocese. You will support end-to-end payroll processing, maintain accurate data and records, assist with reporting obligations, and respond to queries with professionalism and care. In addition to this you will:

  • Support the accurate processing of payroll transactions in line with policy, legislation and award entitlements
  • Maintain employee data and payroll records, including onboarding, changes, and offboarding
  • Respond to payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist with superannuation, BAS and reporting processes
  • Prepare payroll journals and assist with invoicing to payroll client groups
  • Contribute to the improvement of payroll systems, processes and data integrity
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions

About You

You have previous experience in payroll processing, HR administration or a similar field and enjoy working in a collaborative and supportive environment. In addition this this you bring:

  • Sound understanding of FairWork and superannuation requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality support to a diverse stakeholder group
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and experience using HRIS/payroll systems
  • A proactive, collaborative and service-oriented approach
  • A National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
