St Simon the Apostle Parish, Rowville, is seeking an energetic and community-minded Parish Support Officer to be a welcoming face of our Parish.

This is a rewarding, hands-on opportunity to work closely with our Parish Priest, team members, and volunteers to support a spirit of service, hospitality, and faith across our parish. You’ll help shape the way we provide support to our community and be a friendly, supportive presence as we live out the mission of the Church together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Reception – welcoming all on site visitors and assisting or directing them to where they need to be
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and either addressing queries where possible or directing the caller to the appropriate person who can help them
  • Maintaining data and records management (e.g., baptisms, marriages, and deaths) using our in house platform - PACEM.
  • Maintain rosters and follow up to ensure timely communication with volunteers regarding their involvement in their selected ministries
  • Assist the Safeguarding Officer in ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • The collating and distribution of relevant Parish documents
  • Digital and hard copy filing
  • Collaborate with Parish Priest and Staff to ensure efforts align with the community goals
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external bodies including the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne’s HR, Finance, IT, Property and Safeguarding teams.
  • Carry out other duties as required to support the mission and daily operations of the parish, as directed by the Parish Priest.

  • Well-organised, self-motivated and tech-savvy, with strong admin skills
  • Compassionate and empathetic, with the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries
  • Someone who values integrity, brings a sense of humour, and enjoys team collaboration

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Warm, values-driven personality with a genuine commitment to the Church’s mission
  • Compassionate and respectful approach to people from all walks of life, especially those experiencing mental health challenges or social isolation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with healthy, professional boundaries
  • A proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to ask for help when needed
  • Integrity, confidentiality, life experience, and a good sense of humour
  • A valid Working with Children Check
  • A current National Police Check
  • Completion of Catholic Safeguarding Essentials Training (to be completed upon hire)
