St Augustine’s Catholic Church – a historic and beautiful bluestone church in the heart of Melbourne – is seeking a compassionate, organised, and capable Parish Coordinator to be the welcoming face of our parish.

Located near Southern Cross Station, we serve a diverse and vibrant community, including city residents, commuters, overseas students, and people experiencing social isolation. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Parish Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring the smooth operation of the parish. You’ll be the first point of contact for visitors and manage the parish’s day-to-day administrative functions, bookings, communications, and building needs. This is a role where warmth and competence go hand in hand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome and assist parish visitors at the front office
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and in-person enquiries
  • Manage church and hall booking requests
  • Oversee building maintenance and site security (including CCTV monitoring)
  • Coordinate ordering and delivery of parish goods and services
  • Support the Parish Priest and volunteer groups with outreach ministries
  • Maintain accurate records, process payments, and assist with rosters and bookkeeping entries
  • Manage parish social media and create website content
  • Other duties as required by the Parish Priest

  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Warm, values-driven personality with a genuine commitment to the Church’s mission
  • Compassionate and respectful approach to people from all walks of life, especially those experiencing mental health challenges or social isolation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with healthy, professional boundaries
  • A proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to ask for help when needed
  • Integrity, confidentiality, life experience, and a good sense of humour

REQUIRED

  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Current Police Check
  • Valid Driver Licence
