Pope Francis designated 8 February, the feast of St Josephine Bakhita, as World Day of Prayer, Reflection and Action Against Human Trafficking following a request from Talitha Kum, the worldwide Network of Consecrated Life Against Human Trafficking.

This year's theme is "The Power of care – women, economy and human trafficking", which continues to reflect on the connection between the economy and human trafficking. The 2022 edition proposes to focus on women who are the most affected by the violence of trafficking. At the same time, they have a fundamental and important role in the process of transforming the economy of exploitation into one of care.
