What does it mean to welcome others?

In this instalment of the Vibrant Parish Series, Fr Chris Monaghan CP, President of Yarra Theological Union at the University of Divinity, will reflect on moments of hospitality in Sacred Scripture. Jesus often receives the hospitality of others, inviting us to consider how we, too, can be good hosts in our communities. This session will explore how we welcome guests into our midst—meeting their needs and listening with love—understanding that these grace-filled encounters transform not only our guests but ourselves as hosts. A practical workshop will equip participants with tools to initiate meaningful conversations with newcomers and respond to the call to 'cultivate hospitality' (Romans 12:13).

The Vibrant Parishes Formation Series is a new five-part monthly series where international and local speakers explore how we can animate and strengthen the five characteristics of a vibrant parish: worship, evangelisation, formation, fellowship and service.

Open to parish priests, leadership, volunteers and all interested.
