Discover late Victorian Melbourne during an intimate tour of Mannix Library’s special collections with speakers Huw Sandaver and Dr Amy Isham.
See rare pastoral run and railroad maps contained in gazettes and bindings, bound landscapes, and theatre and opera playbills, as well as a collection of pamphlets relating to the career of flamboyant Australian politician and judge James Joseph Casey, whose work spanned issues of public health, agriculture, gold and gem mining, horse-drawn tramways, land settlement, and even a patent for a new type of gunpowder.
The presenters will guide two sessions of this tour of rare items and explain their provenance and conservation.
