Sr Mary Sarah Galbraith, OP, will be our guest speaker at the next Melbourne Catholic Professionals Luncheon on 17 October. Sr Mary Sarah is the local Superior of the Dominican Sisters of St Cecilia and Principal at St Bernard’s Primary School in Bacchus Marsh. Sr Mary Sarah has more than 30 years of experience in primary, secondary and tertiary education, and she holds masters degrees in medieval history and educational administration, and a doctorate in philosophy (science) from the University of Sydney. She lives with her Dominican community in Bacchus Marsh.

Sr Mary Sarah, in collaboration with the Dominican Sisters, leads the Lamps Alight ministry within the Anima Women’s Network. This ministry focuses on upholding the dignity of women within the Church, in their roles as spouses and mothers, in intellectual life, in the political sphere and in other areas of public life. She also supports a group for teachers in Catholic schools, a local faith formation group, and women who are discerning a possible vocation to the consecrated life.

As a Dominican and principal, Sr Mary Sarah brings a unique perspective to teaching. In today’s increasingly complex, and sometimes broken, world, Sr Mary Sarah passionately advocates for Catholic schools that are not just places of academic excellence but an opportunity to encounter Christ.
