Join the Carmelites in celebrating the Canonisation of their newest saint, Titus Brandsma, canonised by Pope Francis on 15 May this year. Fr Brandsma was a Dutch Carmelite priest, university professor, ecumenist, lecturer, newspaper journalist and editor in the Netherlands before and during World War II.

As delegate of the Dutch Bishops, Brandsma fought to keep Catholic Schools open and Nazi propaganda out of the Catholic Press. He was arrested on 19 January 1942 and eventually murdered in Dachau Concentration Camp on 26 July 1942.

Titus Brandsma was beatified as a martyr by Pope John Paul II in 1985 and canonised by Pope Francis on 15 May 2022.
