In dioceses around the world, a period of local consultation has begun as part of a two-year process culminating in the Synod of Bishops gathering in Rome in October 2023. The Church in Melbourne join the rest of the world in embarking on an intentional process of mutual listening that will span two years and engage people in a journey of communion, participation and mission.

These sessions are for parish leaders (staff, clergy or volunteers) who are interested to understand the Synod journey and how they might engage and consult within their own communities. These sessions will explore:

  • What is the Synod on Synodality?
  • How can we contribute as a local community to the preparatory phase?
  • Experience the discernment process as a participant so you might learn to facilitate your own community discernment for the Synod consultation in 2022.

There will be two sessions held (same content, repeated at different days/times). Please register for one of the following session times below:

  • Tuesday 23 November 2021, 2.00pm – 3.30pm OR
  • Thursday 25 November 2021, 7.30pm – 9pm (repeated sessions)
