Staff of Catholic Theological College (CTC), as well as students and researchers, are invited to attend this online seminar, to be presented by Dr Rosemary Canavan, Senior Lecturer in Biblical Studies at CTC.
The seminar will explore the role of women benefactors in the early communities of Christ’s followers (ekklesia) and in the wider social, cultural and economic dynamics of cities in Asia Minor during the first two centuries CE. Dr Canavan will also examine the practice of women benefactors minting coins, especially small bronzes, that might be used by lower echelons of women and men to purchase household goods and provisions for their own households or ekklesia.
