In this year's honours list for the Queen's Birthday, many Catholics found themselves recognised for distinguished service to the common good of Australia—several hailing from Victoria!

Among them was Anna Krohn, an educator and writer, who was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the Catholic Church in Australia. Anna joined Melbourne Catholic to discuss the award, what it means, and signs of hope in today's culture.

We also hear about the first meeting of a new advisory group that has been established to support parishes on their Take the Way of the Gospel journey, and in anticipation of the upcoming World Meeting of Families (including our own local celebrations), we reflect on the great gift of family life, with all its joys and challenges.

This Sunday is the solemnity of Corpus Christi. Fr Andrew Hamilton SJ offers his reflections on what it means to celebrate this great feast, especially in light of our understanding of the Church as the Body of Christ.

The domestic church: a place of growth and forgiveness

This month we celebrate the 10th annual World Meeting of Families. Instead of viewing the family home as the domain of perfect people—a formula for disappointment—perhaps we can come to understand and experience it as a place where imperfect people find love, communion, encouragement and forgiveness.
Corpus Christi: celebrating Christ’s presence

The feast of Corpus Christi is a feast of its time, and a feast for every time, encouraging us to pray, to wonder at the gift of Christ’s presence and continuing activity, and to follow him in giving ourselves to those in need.

‘Artistic imagination always breaks out and takes us deeper into mystery. And I think that’s a sign for today, especially when people are feeling a bit dispirited.’
