Liturgical & Sacramental Coordinator - Nazareth Parish

Grovedale, Torquay, Anglesea

We are currently looking for a Liturgical & Sacramental Coordinator for the Nazareth Parish encompassing Grovedale, Torquay and Anglesea. However, the role can be separated.

Nazareth Parish consists of three church communities – Nazareth at Grovedale, St. Therese’s at Torquay and St. Christopher’s at Anglesea. There are also four Catholic primary schools in the Parish – Nazareth at Grovedale, St Therese and Lisieux at Torquay, and St Catherine of Siena at Armstrong Creek.

It is proposed that this position would be 10 hours per week and is accountable to the Parish Priest. The role is based at the Parish Office located at St Therese Church in Torquay.

Role Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as a liturgical liaison for Parish
  • Prepare weekly PowerPoint for the celebration of the Eucharist.
  • Attend Parish Liturgy Meeting
  • Liaise with school RELs and Catechists to organise the operational support of Masses with parish schools including Mass outlines, PowerPoint, ect…
  • Design and organise liturgies in collaboration with the parish and parish schools regarding the Sacramental celebrations and parish/school liturgy.

Administrative work:

  • Managing registration and keeping records of sacrament registration
  • Creating a workable excel or a shareable/live document of Sacramental registration
  • Liaise with schools and parents regarding registration and attendance.

Other representations on behalf of the Parish Priest:

  • Liaise with the Archdiocese of Melbourne as required
  • Training of parish volunteers as necessary
  • Attend to other duties as required by the Parish Priest

Qualifications and skills

  • Good understanding of Liturgy and Sacraments
  • Good computer competency using Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.

Other Relevant Requirements

  • Working with Children Check
  • Police Check (new Check required)
  • Annual acknowledgement of the expectations and responsibilities outlined in the Safeguarding Children and Young People Code of Conduct.
  • Successful completion of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne’s Safeguarding Essentials online training module annually.
