We are seeking an experienced Finance Officer to manage the financial administration of our two parishes in a part-time, ongoing role (15 hours per week, work days are negotiable). Reporting to the Parish Priest, you will oversee the Stewardship Program, manage accounts payable and receivable, handle weekly banking and monthly reconciliations, and ensure accurate financial reporting. Working closely with the Parish Office Manager, priests, and volunteers, you will contribute to the smooth operation of a pastorally sensitive office. This role requires financial administration experience, attention to detail, integrity, and alignment with Catholic Parish values. Terms and conditions are governed by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Stewardship Program across both parishes, ensuring effective administration and engagement.
  • Oversee the counting and banking of parish collections, including supervision of volunteers.
  • Actively promote and coordinate the Parish Stewardship Program to encourage participation.
  • Process invoices and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Handle accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with the Parish Accountants and Parish Office Manager to support financial operations.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience in finance administration, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
  • A high level of integrity, honesty, and discretion in handling financial matters.
  • Knowledge of Thanksgiving/Stewardship within a church setting.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • A qualification in finance or business administration.
  • Familiarity with POL, PACEM, MYOB, or Xero software.
