This week's collection of stories includes an exploration of the role of sacred art in proclaiming the gospel, exploring the mysteries of Christianity and what Pope Francis calls the quest for the 'supreme beauty' found in God. Earlier this week, the National Liturgical Architecture and Art Council (NLAAC) launched a website that features liturgical art in its various forms. Several Victorian artists and artworks feature on the website, including pieces found at St Francis of Assisi in Mill Park, Sacred Heart in Sandringham and St Patrick's Cathedral. A deep appreciation for the sacred is something that Melbourne mum and publisher Sarah Hlavacek seeks to do with her new book When I Go To Mass, which helps bring the Eucharist to life for younger audiences.
