Parish Bookkeeper - St Andrew's Parish

There is an opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper to undertake the parish financial administrative functions in a part time ongoing role reporting to the Parish Priest. The role of the Parish Bookkeeper will be to build solid relationships and work collaboratively to provide support to the Parish Team and parish volunteers.

The successful applicant must be well motivated to work for the Church and ideally possess a strong commitment to its practices and values. He/she must be able to recognise and respect the pastoral aspect of the Parish. This part-time position is based at the Parish Office at Werribee. The role will be working 10 hours per week, over 2 days with flexibility regarding days required to work.

Terms and conditions are governed by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Key Requirements

  • Strong PC skills – Microsoft
  • Proficiency in Xero
  • The need to have well-developed bookkeeping skills
  • Initiative and a capacity to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Maintain records in a tidy and readily accessible manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all records
  • Ability to work to timeframes with attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Team orientation, including ability to work harmoniously with staff and volunteers

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide office support services to the Parish Priest.
  • Responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow.
  • Bring all Parish accounts to financial statement stage
  • Maintaining and administering with Xero
