Graphic Designer, St Benedict’s Church


St Benedict’s is a Catholic Parish with a focus on helping people to flourish in Christ. We do this by fostering a vibrant and supportive community life for all ages, a focus on personal conversion, spirit-filled contexts of prayer, robust faith formation, strong investment in leadership development, and a commitment to caring for the poor and marginalized.

As part of the Communications Department at St Benedict’s this role will be working collaboratively and independently to create original content that clearly communicates the mission, vision, and values of St Benedict’s.

This casual (project based) position is based at the Parish Office in Burwood. Terms and conditions are governed by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Key Requirements

  • High level of integrity, honesty and confidentiality, with an awareness and appreciation of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite products, with emphasis on Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Proficient in web design
  • Self-motivated, self-directed requiring minimal supervision; teamwork orientation with strong relationship management skills
  • Sound time-management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail, quality and accuracy.
  • Wiliness to learn.
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within with a team

Key Responsibilities

  • The Graphic Designer is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
  • Brainstorming and collaborating with the Communications team to develop design solutions from concept to completion.
    • Contributing new, fresh ideas to the creative process, in the process demonstrating the ability to “think outside of the box.”
    • Upholding the designated brand standards throughout church-wide and department-based projects.
    • Developing, designing, and producing print and web graphics for St Benedict’s
    • Planning and designing visual solutions and elements for Weekend Services, and other events, as necessary.
  • Attending and contributing to various ministry and department meetings, as applicable to current or new projects.
  • Actively participating in communications department and all-staff meetings.
  • Raising up and empowering volunteers to help where possible.
  • Offering up new ideas/strategies to make the team more efficient.
